Calavera Coalition invites you to the Dia de los Muertos celebration
71The Calavera Coalition is proud to invite you to the annual Dia de los Muertos celebration on Mesilla's historic plaza. This familial cultural event transcends all ethnic and racial beliefs, making this celebration a healing event for one and all.
This year, the celebration will be held on the actual Day of the Dead, November 1st and 2nd. The building of the shrines will begin at 8:00 a.m. on November 1st, and the traditional procession to the Mesilla cemetery will take place on the evening of November 2nd. A bike run fundraiser will also be held on Saturday, October 18th.
All proceeds from this event are donated to local women's and children's organizations to keep the tradition alive. A donation of three canned goods are requested for altar set-up.
Come be a part of this historic celebration and enjoy fun, piƱatas, stories, remembrances, handcrafted day of the dead art, great food, and dancing.
